This is a cool idea, but it does take some skill with a sowing machine at least, to make your own clothing.
Maybe you’re not going to sew up a three piece suit, or knit an angora sweater, but my sister made her toddler daughter a summer dress.
Its difficult today to “do-it-yourself”, as mass manufacturing makes products so easy and inexpensive to throw away and replace. Like socks - for awhile I sewed the holes in mine up, but then I realized it was way cheaper, let alone easier, to buy new ones. On top of that my super-stylish sisters (and wife) love to take shots at my ratty socks.
My wife made it about 75% of the way to knitting a hat for our daughter when she was on bed rest. I was impressed - knitting looks very hard.
So honestly, maybe hand made clothing isn’t the best idea. Clothing is both highly utilitarian as well as decorative, requiring special equipment and care. I tried jewelry making once as a hobby and I really liked it.
